First Visit to the Doctor

Wayne and I had our first doctor appointment yesterday. I was told that we'd have our first ultrasound, which made me ABSOLUTELY excited! We got up, dressed, and headed to the office early, so we wouldn't have to wait.....

And wait we did!!!! The appointment was for 930am, and I've never had to wait for my annual exam, so I told Wayne, "Let's get there early, so we'll get in earlier." HAHAHAHAHA....not happening. They weighed me, then I had to get blood drawn and give a "sample" for tests. We were escorted into Dr. S's office, and then asked 500 questions about medical history, where we wanted to deliver, blah-blah-blah. Then they went to check the ultrasound room; occupied.

She came back and told us that we could wait in the dr's office or go back into the waiting area....we waited almost an HOUR!

But it was all worth it....got into my gown, up on the table, and then we saw the MOST WONDERFUL thing in the world; as the doctor moved the wand of the ultrasound machine around, a little clear sac appeared, and in that sac, you could see a little "bean" and a "swooshing" (that was the heart pumping blood)....we have a picture, but it's not great. The first picture he showed up on the monitor was sooo much clearer that the one he gave us. I'm also sick with a cold, so I don't feel like scanning it to put up yet (but I'll get on that soon).

As I'm typing, our refrigerator is FINALLY being worked on (after THREE WEEKS); I'm praying that it works after this, or I may become that crazed pregnant lady and go postal on someone. I'd like to think I can survive in the woods, but when I'm in my OWN home, I want a fridge to keep leftovers and "good for the baby" foods! I don't remember the last time I got to cook something worth a flip!

Anyway, I hope that everyone had a GREAT holiday, Happy New Year!!!! Check back soon~
OH, and by the way, we're 6 1/2 weeks along ;)

Christmas Eve-The Family

So, Wayne and I will be traveling to Tennessee for a bit to see our families. I'm sure there's going to be lots of hugs knowing that there's going to be a new addition in 8 months. This Christmas will be a pivotal point in my life; not only have Wayne and I shared 10+ Christmas' together, but from now on, there will be a little person that we'll be sharing Christmas with as well. The very sound of that is strange to me.....I guess that I always assumed it would always be our friends' children and our nieces and nephews?

Ohhhh, that's all about to change! I am grateful that my nephew, Bishop, is only going to be a short trip older; I hope they are the best of friends (even if it's a girl). A few nights ago, there was a commercial on TV, and it showed a little boy skipping rocks on the water. I rolled over in bed and giggled, "You're going to be able to teach our baby to skip rocks, honey. You are the "master" at skipping rocks." (and Wayne REALLY is awesome at it)!!!! "Well what if it's a girl; she's not going to want to learn how to skip rocks!", he said.

AND, trust me, regardless, boy or girl, if Wayne could teach me to love nature as much as I do, our child is going to be a "lost child", constantly wanting to go to Uncle Dave & Aunt Camille's (they live on the Flint and are VERY dear friends) to play in the river! I loved that Camille called me and stated, "I can just see that lil kayak coming down the river now!" I cried listening to that voicemail.....because it's true, and because THAT will be beautiful!

I hope everyone out there gets what they wished for on Christmas~Happy Holidays & be safe!!!

The Discovery

I'm just going to start with the first day....we'll call it December 12th. That's the day that something REALLY strange happened (I won't go into details, but "abnormal" should be descriptive enough). And as quickly as it showed up, it went away......so I waited.

I'd decided that if by Tuesday, I was "late"....it was test time. That happened yesterday, Thursday the 18th. Two tests and 8 bottles of water later, I sent Wayne a text...."Are you ready to start designing a crib?" Through tears, we texted back a few times, and then I called my dad. I could barely speak as I told him he was going to be a grandfather for a 3rd time in a little over a year's span. (my baby sister had a baby in May, my younger brother in November)

So, sit back, visit often and leave LOTS of comments, as we share our journey with you of Our Biggest Catch!
